Introduction

This group looks exactly like what I was hoping for but never thought I'd find. I'm excited about being able to meet and discuss with other metal workers. I recently graduated with an oh-so useful BFA in sculpture and can't wait to get to work.

Are you new to welding or working with metal?

I would call myself a vaguely advance novice at welding. I've done it but don't really consider myself knowledgeable enough to actually be doing so. I built a cupola and have run a few pours but would say I could always be more knowledgeable.

What would you like to make out of metal?

I prefer casting (iron especially) and recently started working with thermite as a performance and sculptural medium. But I'm interested in creating both functional and sculptural pieces.

Do you have some drawings you have been working on?

Right now drawing is about all I can do. I'm happy to say I've done more sketches since I graduated then I've ever done before. Losing your studio space really helps to focus the mind.
